Sailing Yacht
A private 6-seat day-sailing boat from the Gateway of India — decor, juice, chips and music included.
On board
The XS 63 (6-Seater) is Saildeck's roomier day-sailing boat — a private, wind-powered sailboat for up to 6 guests, with no engine running once the sails are up. Every booking already includes basic on-board decor, chilled juice packs and chips, and a Bluetooth speaker for your own playlist, so there's nothing extra to arrange for a straightforward afternoon on the water. She departs from the Gateway of India in Colaba, the same jetty every Saildeck sailboat sails from.
If you've been searching for a 'yacht' in Mumbai and keep landing on large motor cruisers with a jacuzzi and a sound system, this is a different kind of booking. A sailboat like the XS 63 has no engine running while you sail — just wind against canvas and the hull moving through the water, with the skipper trimming sail rather than running a throttle. It's a quieter, more hands-on way to spend two hours on the harbour, and because there's no crew beyond a single skipper and none of a motor yacht's fuel or machinery, it costs meaningfully less than a crewed motor yacht carrying the same number of guests.
You meet the crew at Jetty No. 5, directly across the road from the Taj Mahal Palace's main entrance at the Gateway of India — arrive fifteen minutes before your slot with a government photo ID. A motorboat carries you out to the sailboat at anchor, about fifteen minutes each way, so a two-hour booking works out to roughly ninety minutes of actual sailing. Our guide to Mumbai's departure jetties covers the boarding point in more detail, and our packing list for a yacht charter covers what to wear and bring — light clothing, a cap and flat, non-slip shoes rather than heels, since this is an open sailing deck.
Six seats is enough room for a family outing with grandparents and a child or two in the same booking, without moving up to the larger group size of Tikla Queen. No sailing ability is needed and life jackets are carried for every guest, including children. It's equally the boat couples book for a proposal or a small birthday group, where the included decor and speaker mean the basics are already sorted — you only need to add a cake, flowers or champagne if you want them.
Pricing is ₹3,500 for the whole boat on either morning slot, and ₹4,500 for an afternoon or evening slot — not per person. See the full add-ons list below the pricing table if you'd like a cake, flowers or a celebratory fruit champagne on board. ₹3,500 for the whole boat on a morning slot (7–9am or 9–11am), and ₹4,500 for an afternoon (2–4pm) or evening (4–6pm or 6–8pm) slot. Prices are for the whole boat, not per person, and already include basic decor, juice packs, chips and a Bluetooth speaker.
No engine runs while you're sailing — the boat moves on wind alone, with the skipper trimming sail rather than operating a throttle. It's a quieter experience with a smaller crew than a motor yacht, which is also why it costs less for a similar group size.
Included: basic on-board decor, juice packs, chips and a Bluetooth speaker for music, plus the skipper, transfer and life jackets. Optional add-ons are a flower bouquet (₹500), additional flower decor (₹2,000), a 500g cake (₹600) and non-alcoholic fruit champagne (₹600).
No. A qualified skipper sails the boat throughout — you are a guest, not crew, though you're welcome to ask questions or take the helm for a stretch if the skipper judges conditions suitable.

Yes. Life jackets are carried for every guest and swimming ability is not required. Children from about three years old are welcome with a guardian aboard, and six seats is a comfortable size for a family outing with grandparents too.
Alcohol is not permitted aboard this vessel. Outside snacks are generally fine alongside the juice and chips already included, and a cake, bouquet or extra flower decor can all be arranged when you book.
The skipper makes the final call on safety grounds. If the coast guard suspends sailing or wind conditions are unsafe, we reschedule your charter to another date at no cost.
