Dolphin watching in Goa is one of those things every boat operator advertises and few explain honestly — sightings are common, but they are wild animals, and any trip promising a guarantee is overselling it.
Where sightings happen most
The river-mouth stretch where the Mandovi meets the open sea, and the open water around Grande Island, are the two most reliable areas. Both are already on the standard route for most half-day and full-day charters, so you do not usually need a dedicated 'dolphin trip' to have a real chance.
Best time of day
Morning, generally before 10am, gives the best odds — calmer water and dolphins that are more active before the day's boat traffic picks up. An early departure is worth the earlier alarm if this is genuinely the point of your trip.
