A sunset cruise in Mumbai is the single most booked charter in the city, and once you have done one it is obvious why: the light does something to the skyline in the last hour before dark that no photograph fully captures.
How the timing actually works
Sunset moves by over an hour across the year, so a good operator will not offer a fixed 6pm slot — the boat should leave roughly ninety minutes before the actual sunset time on your date, giving you time to clear the harbour and be in open water when the light turns. Confirm the exact departure time when you book rather than assuming it is the same year-round.

Best months for it
December to February gives the clearest air and calmest water, so the skyline photographs best. October, November, March and April are still good and considerably easier to book. The monsoon (June to September) closes sunset cruises entirely.
Booking tips
Weekend sunset slots go first — book two to three weeks out if your date is a Saturday. Bring a light layer; it cools quickly once the sun is down and you are on open water.
